Aimee and I did this route and had a blast. The road is still covered with blowdowns about a mile before the trailhead. Several blowdowns and burn areas make finding the trail sometimes hard to find on the way to Boulder Lake. One or two water access points before boulder lake if needed.

Boulder lake is gorgeous. Clear blue water.

We went around the right side of Boulder lake (clockwise) and worked our way to the rocky gulley coming from Pear Lake. Once on the ridge, we traversed across the boulder field and tree areas to keep as much of the elevation as possible. The outflow from Pear Lake was the last water source at this time. After the traverse, head up the gulley that has green areas at the top (to the right of Hurricane Peak when looking at it from Boulder lake). One third to fourth class move near the top of the gulley and then a lovely walk up the backside of Hurricane peak.

The crux of the route was watching out for loose rock going up and down the boulder field. It is not a well travelled route, and I couldn’t find a lot of beta on it, but it is a fun one.
