Trip Report

White Chuck Mountain

Juliet Evans

6/26/2021

Permits: None

Difficulty: Moderate

Route Name: Unknown

Gear: Ice axe and helmet needed

Weather: Heat wave- almost 90 degrees

My sister and I were the first to the summit register this year! We skipped North Twin due to the heat wave, and chose to do White Chuck, thinking it would be easier. Unfortunately there was a little more there than we expected. Snow started 0.6 miles before trailhead and there was still a large snow patch up to the gulley and melting all over the class 3 rock, making route finding difficult. Several sections felt class 4 because of route finding. Overall it took us about 8 hours C2C with the route finding, heat wave and snow travel. Got to see a mountain goat bag the summit before we got there too!
